He celebrated by going bowling with some friends and family. It was so fun! All the kids seemed to enjoy it and it was fun to see each's unique style of getting a ball waaay too heavy for them down the lane. Let's just say, "Thank goodness for bumpers!"
My sweet niece, Wiggles
How cute are all these little bowling shoes?!
I wasn't sure how Austin would do - we took him into a bowling alley a few months ago to watch people bowl and he seemed fairly upset when the pins would fall down! But he quickly got the point and although he couldn't roll the ball very well by himself, he was totally into it!
We had one small snafu right at the beginning when Austin tried to bring his own ball to the lane. Ball one didn't have enough oomph to make it all the way down and while I was watching to see if it would need to be retrieved or would roll back, Austin picked up another ball and tried to carry it over. He tripped on the step, fell with the ball landing between his puny little arm and his sweet little noggin! He ended up with a very serious knot on each.
Thankfully he bounced back pretty soon and still had a great time. He even got a spare!
After the game was over, it was time for some pizza & cake.
Robin did a great job with the Darth Vader cake! Monkey is a big Vader fan!
McKenna was there too, by the way. She just was a little too little for bowling. She mostly just hung out with my mom. They did some exploring. McKenna was fascinated with the holes in the bowling balls and insisted on putting her chubby little finger in as many as she could reach!
Happy Birthday, Monkey! Love you!
