Memorial Day was spent down in San Diego with my brother and family. We went to Sea World! They had our names in the Christmas exchange and got us "buy a day, get a year" tickets. We've been intending to use them for months now, but somehow the first half of the year slipped by already!
It was a gorgeous day! Fairly warm but really not too too bad. And of course, the kids had a ball with each other! Austin and McKenna really seemed to enjoy the animals and shows. When you ask Austin what he saw there, he says "More whales and more whales and dolphins and sharks!!" I think he was most impressed with the sharks though!
Momma was most impressed with the whale and dolphin shows. Growing up I had dreams of being a marine biologist and getting to do the very job that we were watching. Well, not the very job - since last year when Shamu killed a trainer, the Shamu show has changed slightly. The trainers don't get in the water with them anymore and just give signals from the stage and do really awkward dancing to fill the lulls. I'd love to have the job that they used to do!
How amazing are these creatures?!
And if you're ever thinking of sitting in the "splash zone"...
Austin really liked the Sea Lion show too. And momma really really liked the little otter that was in it. I'd love to have one of those!
Seriously, look how cute this little guy is!
Austin sure loves his Uncle Scott!
This walrus was cracking us up! He'd chew on his fish and then spit it all out against the glass, then suck it back it and chew some more and spit it out again. The kids all loved it, even though they were all saying "Ewww!"
A Beluga whale
And the cutest mini dolphins (can't remember what kind they were) that I wanted to take home with me too! Who couldn't use a pocket sized dolphin?!
Penguins!
I was trying to teach the boys to waddle waddle like the penguins. Austin didn't get it but Monkey did!
And last but not least,
Such a great day! We're hoping to go back in a few weeks and see some of the exhibits we didn't get to and play on the rides! Should be so fun! Thanks Scott & Robin!
